We’re headed for a very interesting results show tomorrow night. If Tim Urban survives, as Simon predicted tonight, then who will be sent home. We’re going to start seeing just how strong certain fan bases are. I’m also getting the feeling that the judges save will be put to use tomorrow night. Instead of giving my detailed reaction to tonight’s performances I’m going to just give each a letter grade along with their chances of getting the least amount of votes and the chances the judges will use a save on them.
Siobhan Magnus:
Tonight: C
Chance at being lowest vote getter: No chance
Will the judges use a save on her? Absolutely
Not a step in the right direction for Siobhan. Based on her reputation, there is no way she is going tonight even if she did get the lowest amount of votes.
Casey James:
Tonight: B+
Chance at being lowest vote getter: No chance
Will the judges use a save on him? Maybe leaning towards no
I think Simon has by far the most influence over who gets the judges save. Until tonight, he has made it clear that Casey is not in the upper tier of performers. The good news is that it won’t matter after his best night of the season.
Michael Lynche:
Tonight: B+
Chance at being lowest vote getter: No chance
Will the judges use a save on him? Absolutely
He’s been the most consistent male performer of the season, so there is no way that he’ll go home tomorrow night. He finally received Simon’s praise that he’s acting like an artist on the stage.
Didi Benami:
Tonight: C
Chance at being lowest vote getter: It’s possible
Will the judges use a save on her? Probably not
I like Didi, but for the past few weeks I feel like she’s starting to lose her sweet girl vibe. I’m not referring to how she acts while singing, I’m talking about her interactions with the judges. I get the sense that she’s annoyed by the negative feedback, as if she can do no wrong. Even if my assessment of her is wrong, there are some glaring signs of trouble. Anytime the judges say that you have “lost your way” it’s not a good sign. She hasn’t been in the bottom three yet, but I think tomorrow will mark her first appearance. She’s in a bit of trouble.
Tim Urban:
Tonight: D
Chance at being lowest vote getter: Pretty high
Will the judges use a save on him? No Way
Tim is the safest best to go home since he’s by far the worst singer left, and he’s the only one who has been in the bottom three both previous weeks. However, there can definitely be a Sanjaya effect going on here. Simon himself said that there’s no way Tim will get the lowest amount of votes. I’m going to put more faith in the voting public and say there’s at least a chance tonight’s the last night we’ll have to endure his blandness.
Andrew Garcia:
Tonight: A-
Chance at being lowest vote getter: No chance
Will the judges use a save on him? Not likely
Andrew re-entered the competition tonight by giving his best performance sine Sugar We’re Going Down (hey, I thought he was awesome on that song!). When Andrew was awful for the past two weeks, he never sank to the bottom three. Maybe part of that is due to how dreadful Paige and Lacey were, but I think it also speaks to Andrew’s fan base. If he didn’t make it to bottom three the last tow weeks, I don’t see him getting lowest amount of votes when giving his best performance in a long time. In the event that he does get the least amount of votes, I don’t think the judges will save him. He’s only starting to build back their respect. It’s not 100 percent back yet.
Katie Stevens:
Tonight: B-
Chance at being lowest vote getter: maybe, but probably not.
Will the judges use a save on her? No Way
More than ever, her facial expressions annoy me. Katie tries so hard to show she’s a serious singer when she’s belting those notes that it’s distracting. If the “It’s better to be bad than to be dull” rule applies, then she is in trouble. The judges will let her go packing while giving her the encouragement that she’ll be a force to be reckoned with in a few years.
Lee Dewyze:
Tonight: A
Chance at being lowest vote getter: no way
Will the judges use a save on him? Absolutely
Lee was incredible tonight! As Simon said, this night could very well change his future. And he didn’t have to glide around the stage to prove Simon wrong.
Crystal Bowersox:
Tonight: A
Chance at being lowest vote getter: no way
Will the judges use a save on her? Absolutely
Another night, another incredible job by Crystal. She’s so far better than anyone else on the show.
Aaron Kelly:
Tonight: C+
Chance at being lowest vote getter: not likely
Will the judges use a save on him? Probably not
Aaron was very bland tonight/. I never believe he produces fireworks when he sings, but tonight lacked the emotional connection he usually brings to his songs. This will be a good indication of how strong his fan base is. If Aaron doesn’t land in the bottom three then he’ll be sticking around for awhile. I don’t think the judges would use a save on him because they don’t believe in his capability of going all the way.
Who Will Go Home?
The only singers I can imagine getting the lowest amount of votes this week are Tim, Didi, and Katie. If Tim is as safe as Simon predicts, we could be looking at a surprisingly early exit from Didi. I don’t think any of these three would be saved by the judges, but Didi would at least have them thinking about it. In the end, I think American will get it right two weeks in a row and vote Tim off.
